Manufacturers’ Representatives

About Us

Jim Merritt,

President of J. E. Merritt, Inc., is a Chemical Engineer from Washington State University. He has spent 20 years in manufacturing with General Electric and Raychem (a Tyco company). In 1988 he moved to the Northwest and started J. E. Merritt, Inc. as a Manufacturer's Representative.

We specialize in working with OEM product design engineering groups, helping them with material selection and process selection to meet their product's needs. After the product design stage, we work with Purchasing and Manufacturing Engineering to help insure that specified products meet their precise needs and objectives.

An exploratory meeting can help determine the extent of the cost savings and/or performance improvements possible with the materials and processes offered by J. E. Merritt, Inc.

Mission Statement

We are dedicated to bringing advanced material and process knowledge and continuing support to engineering design groups to enable the optimum selection of those materials and processes that are most cost effective in meeting their product goals.

We represent some of the leading manufacturers of mechanical components and assemblies, working with a wide range of engineered materials. These companies are selected by us based on their capability of  adding significant value to the products and materials they offer, and their ability to provide contract manufacturing services in order to meet the customer's supply chain requirements. All the manufacturers we represent provide JIT and/or KanBan to the highest quality standards.

We strive to make the substantial product benefits of early vendor involvement a reality for every project in which we participate. We urge you to contact us at your earliest convenience and let us assist you with your material and process selection.

Technical Seminars
It has been our privilege to present technical seminars, as guest speakers at the engineering departments of various universities in the Northwest.

Jim Merritt has also spoken to associations such as the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Society of Automotive Engineers and the British Columbia Industrial Design Group. On a regular basis, we have given private seminars on material, design and processing subjects for OEM design groups.

Regional Product Design Seminars
J. E. Merritt, Inc., as a NADCA member, can also arrange for OEMs to attend the regional Product Design seminars offered by the North American Die Casting Assn., Interzinc, as well as other industry associations.
